I've had this TV for over three months now and am generally happy with it. The picture quality is very good, and I'm getting used to the piano-black finish of the bezel. However, I am noticing the banding issue mentioned by other reviewers. It is most noticeable watching hockey games- a strip of ice along the bottom of the screen gets discolored. So far, the Sharp customer service has been helpful. (link)

Sharp is very aware of the banding problem, and has fixed it by replacing a part behind the screen...all the new models since October 2006 are the new ones with no banding problem...I was really impressed with the help, concern, and advice I got from Sharp. (link)

The picture and brightness on this TV is outstanding. It has loads of features, but right out of the box, it is ready to watch, with very few adjustments. The two complaints I have are that there is no VGA input for a PC connection, and that standard def TV looks bad. I have not experienced any of the banding others are complaining about, maybe I am just lucky. (link)

I ordered a refurbished LC46D62U and when I got it, I noticed the infamous banding problem. It was very minor; I was the only one who could notice it at first, and other people has to be told about it to notice it. Anyway, I decided to fix it and Sharp quickly replaced the set. Unfortunately, the new set has banding as well, and now they are saying it will take 10-12 weeks to replace. (link)
