Hitachi's Latest: the 601 Series

The Hitachi 601 series of Plasma HDTV is their first to feature full 1920 x 1080 resolution. The 401 and 501 series have what Hitachi calls "HD1080", which is 1280 x 1080 or 1024 x 1080. The 601 also has a power swivel stand, enabling you to rotate the TV 60 degrees using the remote.

Hitachi's Current Plasma HDTV Lineup
Hitachi 55 Inch Plasma

Hitachi's Plasma line is designed to offer good quality at a reasonable price. The only other Plasmas close to the 55HDS69 in quality, size and price are the 50 inch Panasonic and the 50 inch Samsung.
Hitachi 50 Inch Plasma

The 50 inch Hitachi Plasmas all feature 1080 rows of pixels. The S601 has full 1920 x 1080 resolution, while the T501 and H401 have 1280 x 1080. The T501 has a few features the H401 lacks, like a swivel stand, split screen capability, and an SD card reader.
Hitachi 42 Inch Plasma

The 42 inch Hitachi Plasmas all generate 1080 lines of pixels, but are not "full HD" sets. The HDS69 and H401 sets have 1024 x 1080 resolution, and the T501 has 1280 x 1080. This is better than 720p, because 1080i input will "fit" better and look sharper.
